How will Angels – Beacons of Hope work?

  • Fifty-two angels landed in Dublin in October 2009.
  • Each musician, sports person, celebrity and international guest that agreed to participate will be presented with one angel and will be given two weeks to decorate its surface.
  • At the end of two weeks the angels will be stored at a secure location and individually weather-proofed.
  • The official launch of Angels - Beacons of Hope is planned for November 2009. The angels will be exhibited in Dublin until the end of December and will then begin an 8 week tour visiting Co. Waterford, Co. Cork, Co. Kerry, Co. Limerick, Co. Kilkenny, Co. Galway, Co. Donegal and Belfast City.
  • Angels - Beacons of Hope concludes March 2010 when the angels will be auctioned.
  • Angels - Beacons of Hope tour will present numerous opportunities to attract and provoke media exposure.
  • There will be extensive PR, including appearances on Ireland's highest viewed TV programmes.
  • Considerable public interaction will be stimulated via a nationwide postal competition to coincide with the tour.
  • Public interaction will be stimulated by a nationwide 'Vote for your favourite Angel' online and text campaign which will also coincide with the national tour.
  • A national radio, print and TV campaign in support of the Angels is planned.
  • Angels - Beacons of Hope Team plan to maximise merchandising opportunities to generate additional income.
  • High end opportunities include partnering with major international fashion brands: limited edition Angel trainers, T-shirts, Angel Tote Bags by celebrity Bag Designers, Angel key rings by celebrity Jewellers and Crystal Angel Christmas tree decorations.
  • Mid-range opportunities include badges, stickers, fridge magnets, key rings, T-shirts and baseball caps.
  • Each single Angel will be sold at a high-profile auction and find their permanent home.
  • Each charity will share the net income generated by the initiative.
